Thank you, thank you very much. Camp Photoshop counselor Roger Ridpath is Adobe Photoshop CS3 Certified (up to now I was CS2 Certified). I have to say the test was no easier this time than it was the last time. While taking the test I had this weird Twilight Zone/ déjà vu feeling like I’d been here before and it felt uncomfortable.
What is an ACE? Direct from Adobe’s web site: “An Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) is a person who has demonstrated proficiency with one or more Adobe software products. To become an ACE, you must pass one or more product-specific proficiency exams and agree to the ACE terms and conditions.”
Why should you care if your chosen Camp Photoshop counselor is an ACE? Again from Adobe’s web site: “Adobe certification is an industry standard of excellence and it's the absolute best way to communicate your proficiency in leading products from Adobe.”
I wouldn’t recommend the ACE test to anyone who is a casual user of Photoshop. But there is a tremendous value in the test itself. In the process of studying for the test (studying, by the way, is highly recommended if you want to pass the test) your knowledge of Photoshop will be expanded tremendously. I use Photoshop everyday for a variety of web and print projects but there are areas within the application that I rarely, dare I say, never actually experience…can you say Adobe Bridge. That’s where the certification test steps in. There is at least a single question that covers all the major capabilities of Photoshop and in some cases several questions. The test I took had a surprising number of animation and video editing questions. There were also questions relating to 3D within Photoshop. Video, animation and 3D are all things that we will get to in the future here at Camp Photoshop.
So now that my Photoshop certification is update, I think I’ll work on becoming certified on something else I know lots about. Does anyone know if there’s a certification test for Gilligan’s Island experts? I believe the castaways of Gilligan’s Island were on the same island that the 815 survivors are on. Aren’t both of those islands in the Twilight Zone where I took my certification test?
