It struck me as funny that I had never used this option for cropping until recently and now it’s my most common way to crop in Photoshop.
I call this “Crop to Pixels” but there might be another name for it (email me if you know of one). It you have a situation where you have an irregular (non-rectangle) shape or object you want to crop to, it’s accomplished the same as a regular crop.
- Make a selection your irregular shape/object in any manner you choose.
- Choose Image>Crop from the menu.
The result is a rectangle Photoshop document that is cropped exactly to the most outer pixels of the irregular shape/object you had selected.
