Photoshop This Week: Top Five 01.30.09

It’s nice to see Adobe showing a strong interest in users connecting to exchange ideas and experiences as noted in my first item. And yes I know there are six items this week instead of five but I had to squeeze in the new G.I. Joe movie poster. As always, I post this list each week. If you find it interesting, make sure and check out my past and future editions. Subscribe to this blog’s RSS feed – and don’t hesitate to let me know if I missed something!

  1. Meet Adobe Groups: Adobe helps us come together. As described by Rachel Luxemburg of Adobe, “Adobe Groups gives the Adobe community a place to connect, find one another, and locate communities of people who share their interests—whether in their own back yard or worldwide. It is a common home for Adobe user groups, containing information about those groups, their areas of focus, and past and future meetings.”
  2. It’s “Guest Blog Wednesday” featuring Dustin Snipes!: Dustin’s photography is amazing but getting the step-by-step detail on how they were created is the real sweet spot here.
  3. Name Your Dream Assignment: I noticed this content mentioned on Dave Cross’s blog. The contest: Name Your Dream Assignment is a contest to find the most creative, inspiring photo shoot idea. The prize: $50,000.
  4. Web Button Making Tutorial: Since I build websites all the time, I’m always interested in attractive buttons and how they are made. I found the glow at the bottom of this treatment very interesting. I recently used a similar effect on the header of a site design.
  5. How to Create a Flaming Photo Manipulation: This is a great fire effect using mostly the Brush tool and Warp command.
  6. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra Movie Posters: Ok this doesn’t look like G.I. Joe from when I was a kid but these images kick butt just like Joe does.
