Photoshop This Week: Top Five 05.29.09

This weeks list certainly lean towards tutorials. If you want to look at something cool quickly try item number 3. If you have a little time Deke’s story in item number 1 is fun. As usual, I post this list each week. That’s right, each and every week! If you find it interesting, make sure and check out my past and future editions. Subscribe to this blog’s RSS feed – and don’t hesitate to let me know if I missed something!

  1. How I Translated a Comic Strip into a Career in Computer Graphics: This is an interesting and funny story about how Deke took the first steps to who he is today. My own story parallels Deke’s in some ways, too bad I didn’t think to write a “How to use Pagemaker” book.
  2. Smile and Say ‘No Photoshop’:I see articles from the “Photoshop is bad” perspective from time to time. The discuss is interesting but I have never heard a realistic solution. The topic even popped up on my local newspaper’s website this
  3. How to Create an Imaginative, Magical Painted Scene: Just looking at the final results of this Johnson Koh tutorial is inspiritional. This project is a perfect example of where a sketch would come in handy (see below)
  4. From Sketch to Illustration:This is a nice guide from idea to finished composition from Ardis Creative. I often work from sketches on my more complicated work and recommend it highly.
  5. 45 Step-by-Step Tutorials on Web Design with Photoshop: Need to design a website with Photoshop? Here’s 45 examples to follow.
