Photoshop This Week: Top Five 06.12.09

This week I have an urgent request for a book cover design critique from John McWade. If you’re not in an urgent mood relax and try Deke’s Martini Hour 018. As usual, I post this list each week. That’s right, each and every week! If you find it interesting, make sure and check out my past and future editions. Subscribe to this blog’s RSS feed – and don’t hesitate to let me know if I missed something!

  1. Critique our cover!: First I want to say that I'm looking forward to the book Before & After, How to Design Cool Stuff. John McWade is the Before and After guy. He wants your comments on his new book’s cover and he want’s your comment now! His deadline is Monday June 15th.
  2. The Andy Warhol Silkscreen Effect: New quickie DekePod effect. I say quickie because Deke covers a 15 minute tutorial in less than 6 minutes. Careful Deke requires you work in a alpha channel. Question to Deke, “What’s up with the Steve-Jobs-like black turtleneck?”
  3. Martini Hour 018, In Which Deke Takes on Two Women at Once: Deke Item number two. Deke and Colleen Wheeler have been doing this Martini podcast for several weeks and I’m becoming a big fan. A future post will cover why this is so good. For now let’s say a $50 discount on GridIron Flow is reason enough.
  4. Flash Catalyst now on Labs; free training available:This might just be a killer app for Photoshop web designer who don’t want to learn Flash (that’s me...my brain is already being filled up with Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects, FinalCutPro and Motion info - there’s just no room for Flash). I know this is two weeks old but I was so excited by the John Nack posts last week I missed this one. Via PhotoshopUser TV.
  5. PERFECT Compositing: Although this is a motion design oriented post there are some great suggestions for still image compositing. And another change to mention Andrew Kramer.

Do you like this week’s list? Did I miss anything? Post your additions here. Got something for next week? Email me and let me know.
