Photoshop This Week: Top Five 09.18.09

Gungy Photoshop brushes at photoshopisland.com

This is a great week for PS news. Two don’t miss items are number one and number five. If you are a true Photoshop fan boy plan on getting your credit card out to purchase the Photoshop Filter Heroes t-shirt. Yea I know number five is a self plug but this is my blog right? I post this list every week! If you find it interesting, make sure and check out my past and future editions. Subscribe to this blog’s RSS feed – and don’t hesitate to let me know if I missed something!

  1. These Are the Photoshop Filter Heroes: Photoshop Filter Heroes is a farcical Photoshop geek treat from the Chop Shop. The $20 t-shirt displays all of your favorite Photoshop plug-ins as super heros! Just finished ordering mine in geek XXL.
  2. Photoshop CS4 Teaching App Released for iPhone: If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can now learn on the go. According to the publisher the application introduces essential topics in Photoshop CS4. I think you will be seeing more of this, lynda.com has announced that their tutorials will be coming to the iPhone soon.
  3. Kanye West's VMA Interruption Gives Birth To Internet Photo Meme: Thanks to Photoshop Kanye West is busy interrupting much more than the MTV Video Music Awards. Photoshop makes the world just a little bit better every day.
  4. Adobe, With Omniture, Tries To Help Customers Find The Money: Honestly, I’m not sure what to make of this. I get the concept of tracing how Adobe Flash files are see and interacted with but how would this work with Photoshop. Would it be possible to embed information in a JPG or PNG that could track how many times it’s viewed online independent of a specific URL. If that’s where we headed, I’m interested.
  5. PhotoshopIsland.com … A Fun & Easy Way To Escape From Ordinary Image Manipulation: This one is about me but since it’s my list I can do stuff like that. Kansas City-based professional designer and web developer Roger Ridpath is pleased to announce the launch of PhotoshopIsland.com, a Web site storefront that features free and low-cost royalty-free, exclusive designs and elements for Photoshop, such as brush sets, actions and stunning layered designs.
