This is my first “Photoshop This Week Top Five.” I enjoy sifting through various blogs looking for interesting news and information. There is tons of interesting and not-so-interesting stuff out there. Beginning today I’ll be posting my top five Photoshop-related stories every Friday. This will comprise of items that have come to light in the last seven days or so.
- Photoshop CS4 is now shipping. Well, at least that’s what I’ve read here, there, and everywhere. My order has not shipped as of this posting. But as Jedi master Yoda says, “Patience, young padawan. Patience.” If you are still waiting to order your upgrade, NAPP members get a super good deal if they need a Lightroom and Photoshop upgrade.
- Laurie Excell’s guest blog appearance on Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider blog. I enjoyed a Photoshop World class from Laurie about a year ago. I believe her post is quite inspirational. You should also check out her photography-oriented blog.
- Designing movie posters. Very interesting interview with Jeremy Saunders, one of the top movie poster designers in Australia. If you are into movie posters as art, you’ll enjoy this.
- What Not To Do in Photoshop. Here’s a list of the most common misconceptions and amateurish techniques in beauty retouching. While you may not agree with all these, several of the suggestions are worth considering.
- New Mac laptops. If you use a Mac laptop for Photoshop work, there are at least a couple of good reasons to consider upgrading to the new models: a) LED-backlit display; b) GeForce 9600M GT graphics card.
