So what exactly is STASH?
STASH DVD Magazine, put together by Stephen Price, is one of the most inspirational and comprehensive resources for what's happening in motion graphics that I’ve ever been exposed to.
Don’t trust me? Need more detail? Here’s what you’ll find on the STASH web site: “STASH delivers the planet’s most innovative and outstanding commercial animation, VFX and motion graphics, plus insightful behind-the-scenes extras in a monthly DVD magazine. Also tucked inside the STASH DVD case is a companion book of color stills, details on the featured work, credits and tech notes.”
STASH is only available as a DVD subscription. Each month you receive a DVD full of creative motion graphics, a supporting print booklet and sometimes a supplemental extras disc. This booklet, by the way, isn’t just a throw away insert. It’s printed in full color with great images and interesting information about the motion work presented on the DVD.
As for the work presented on the DVD… it is the best in the industry. The level of creativity is outstanding. The quality is stunning. I have yet to be disappointed even just once, and I’ve been a subscriber for nearly two years!
If you’re not sold, or not quite ready to spend the $27.50 monthly subscription fee, you can check out the trailer for each month’s issue. It didn’t take much to sell me once I got a preview look. When I feel stuck in a rut, or feel I need a creative jolt, I simply pick out any one of my issues of STASH and drop it into my office DVD player. The energy it produces is easily worth the monthly subscription fee for me.
