Adobe Photoshop Express, Adobe Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 … When Adobe comes to Photoshop World I can understand their need to make some news at the event... They’ve got a few thousand enthusiastic Photoshop users all in one place so they better take advantage of it. The tease for Photoshop CS4 was … not a very enticing tease. It’s going to take more than a new refined selection tool to get users to upgrade. I guess they have time. I wouldn’t expect to see a new Photoshop any sooner that April 2009 (that fits Adobe’s 18 to 24 month product development cycle). John Nack, Senior Product Manager, Adobe Photoshop, has blogged about Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe's 64-bit roadmap, which may be be the real reason to upgrade to CS4.
Lightroom 2 looks more interesting. I’ve yet to find a way to manage all my images that covers all my needs. Maybe Scott Kelby’s extended wish list will help us all. I’ll be downloading the free beta and giving it a try.
Given the time that Adobe SVP John Loiacono (AKA Johnny L) spent most of his keynote time talking about Adobe Photoshop Express, I think that’s the product he really wanted to push. I haven’t given it a try yet but it does look interesting for the person who wants to give their snapshots a little TLC and then share online with friends and family. I don’t think that description fits me. I’ll give it a try and let you know what I think.
